Festival Schedule
Experience an exclusive ages 21+ only Viking experience with mead halls, Norse rituals, and authentic entertainment under the stars.
At A Night in Valhalla, our festival cast recreates the drama of Norse justice through a lively Viking law trial performance packed with humor, quick wit, and crowd interaction. The experience is elevated by the renowned Viking combat group Hurstwic, whose timely interjections break down real Viking legal customs and traditions as they were practiced in the Viking Age. Blending historical accuracy with theatrical energy, this engaging skit delivers an entertaining and educational glimpse into authentic Viking law.
The Valhalla Party is the exclusive evening event of the Great Northern Viking Festival in Mankato, Minnesota, held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 8:00 PM to Midnight. After the family-friendly festival closes for the day, the grounds are reborn as a firelit Viking realm designed exclusively for adults twenty-one and over. Torchlight, war drums, and the presence of Valkyries at the gates signal the transformation, inviting guests to leave the modern world behind and step into Odin's legendary hall of heroes.
Unlike the daytime festival, A Night in Valhalla is a 21+ immersive Viking celebration that combines Norse mythology with modern festival energy. Guests enter through a ceremonial gate starting at 7:00 PM, greeted with the echo of drums and the call of horns. Once inside, they join a living saga filled with bonfire rituals, horn-raising ceremonies, and storytelling that draws directly from Viking tradition. Throughout the night, reenactors, skalds, and musicians perform sagas accompanied by the haunting sound of the Tagelharpa and Nordic drums.
The evening also offers a glimpse into Viking law through a witty and authentic Viking Law Trial skit featuring the combat experts of Hurstwic, where the crowd witnesses how disputes were once resolved by honor, wit, and banter. Between the games and performances, ambient Nordic soundscapes and a final concert performance drift through the woods, blending folklore and ritual into an atmosphere unlike any other. As the night draws to a close at midnight, the embers of the great fire fade, songs quiet, and the gates of Valhalla are symbolically sealed until the following year.
The Valhalla Party is unique in Minnesota: it is the only Viking-themed 21+ night festival in the state. More than an after-party, it is an adult-only Viking festival after dark that unites ritual, music, storytelling, and myth into one unforgettable evening. For a few hours, Mankato becomes Valhalla, and those who enter are not just spectators—they are participants in a living Norse saga.
Join the legendary celebration under the stars
The Night in Valhalla is not just another fall gathering — it is a 21+ Viking festival after dark that outshines concerts, Oktoberfests, and haunted attractions across Minnesota.
Where most fall events focus on music or beer alone, Valhalla combines authentic Norse rituals, mead hall revelry, theatrical performances, and Viking-inspired games into a single night. Set against the riverside woods of Mankato, MN, the atmosphere is unforgettable: bonfires blaze, drums echo through the trees, and guests become part of a living saga.
Feel the drums. Taste the mead. Join the shield wall. The Valhalla Party is built to awaken every sense and create a sense of belonging that lingers long after the night ends. Unlike other seasonal events, it invites you to step into Odin's hall of heroes and experience a world that feels both mythic and real.

Held once a year, during the crisp October season, the Night in Valhalla has already earned its place as southern Minnesota's most unique cultural celebration. For those searching for an autumn event that goes beyond music, food, or spectacle alone, the Valhalla Party offers the chance to live the legend, not just watch it.
